31.05.2010 RUSSLAVBANK supported the XIX International Banking Congress (IBC -2010)
XIX International Banking Congress (IBC -2010): «Banks: post-crisis functioning» took place in St. Petersburg 26-29 May. Representatives and delegates from the Government, Bank of Russia, Russian and International banking community, experts from audit, consulting and IT companies took part in the Con-gress. Current situation and development perspectives of banking system, relevant objectives of legal system, issues, concerning the business processes’ modernization and quality increase of banking services – all these themes were discussed during the plenary meeting and functioning of sections.
The President-Chairman of the clearing bank of the Money Transfers and Payments CONTACT System Nikolay Gousman reported on «Retail in banking sphere. Post-crisis or new realias». He noted, that banks had begun to strain after to develop commission business in order to increase the profitableness: «Our information confirms this: the quantity of banks-distributors raised twice, and the quantity of CONTACT offices became bigger by half during the last year», - says Gousman. «Service providers also wish to raise money, using the service of CONTACT System, - the quantity of the payment motives (credit repayment, insurance services, travel industry, telecommunication service, the Internet, e-wallets and etc.) increased in 5 times during the last 2 years and reached the number of 1080».
In his report the President-Chairman of the board of the Bank considered CONTACT System as a method to look into retail-clients’ behavior: «50000 of-fices of the System allow to pick up and accumulate information about the contemporary situation in the sphere of consumers’ demand for financial services in 90 countries all over the world. Particularly, remittance is a macroeconomic indicator, which shows the lower limit of the labour services’ purchasing power, which decreased during the crisis. The quantity of services’ consumers and their incomings reduced.» Gousman noticed, that market of remittances had turned out to be mostly liable to the global economic crisis – volume varied from the norm from May, 2008. Concerning the sphere of payments, firstly, small payments (down to 200$) suffered, than medium payment (down to 500$) transactions affected and large payments (over 1000$) reacted in the end of summer.
However, Nikolay Gousman considers, that getting over crisis is an unobvious fact. It was confirmed by other delegates of the Congress, who also noted, that Russian economic got over crisis, nevertheless now bankers have to decide, how to work in changed conditions, when they won’t have margin, coming to 10-15%.
RUSSLAVBANK demonstrated, that it is set for functioning in new economic day-to-day realias, by introducing and showing new service-package:
- for distributors: consistent complex of IT solutions for front-office, Internet-banking, bancomats and terminals;
- for service providers: more than 6000 offices, oriented to payment acceptance, on the territory of Russia;
- for private customers: more than 1000 service units.
